Congratulations are in order to Ernie Cockrell and company on its acquisition of one of the last large remaining tracts of land on the Houston Ship Channel. Plans call for the creation of one of the more significant privately owned terminals in the port.

Recently, Lone Star Terminals and I closed a transaction involving the purchase of 24 acres on the Houston Ship Channel for the creation of a new general cargo deepwater dock facility. Further negotiations are underway for its utilization. Situated just upstream from the Loop 610 Bridge, the facility is in a very strategic location on 36 ft. of water.

Previously, we closed a transaction involving the purchase of 23 acres also adjacent to the Loop 610 Bridge. The facility is being utilized for a significant scrap recycling facility with some of the more advance amenities in the business. A barge loading dock has been constructed.

Inbesa America has acquired a purchase of a large tract of raw land on Jacintoport Blvd. in the Jacintoport Industrial Park for an import steel lay down yard.

We are presently representing shipping companies, dry bulk companies and others in the possible acquisition of land and waterfront on the Houston Ship Channel. One company hopes to establish a new general cargo terminal on the Ship Channel.

Through our services, Accurate Cargo Logistics has leased 25,000 sf and outside stabilized land for it warehousing and container storage business. Location is at the intersection of the La Porte Freeway and Broadway and the company is headed by Ms. Mary Francis Fanning.

Cargoways Logistics and we recently closed its acquisition of a warehouse facility at 1201 Hahlo in Houston. Formerly owned by Alex Arroyos of Dynamic Ocean Services, the facility represents the first foray into the Houston shipping industry by Cargoways. The company is ably led by Mr. Gilles Dumont. Cargoways had also acquired a 13 acre tract and 65,000 sf warehouse on Canada Road in the La Porte area to serve the container facilities at Barbours Cut and Bayport.

We are in the process of locating suitable property for American Maritime Services of the New Jersey and Chicago areas. AMS is in the container chassis assembly and repair business as well as empty container storage. This endeavor represents AMS's entry into the Houston shipping business.

The Port of Houston Authority has reached an agreement with a large aggregate/slag related company at it Bulk Materials Handling Plant location near Greens Bayou for a dry bulk terminal. This development is indicative of an enterprising approach by the Port Authority in developing business for the Port of Houston.

Congratulations are in order to Ms. Toby Moore who has recently taken over as President of the Greater Houston Port Bureau and Marine Exchange of the West Gulf. That organization's chairman, Tom Marian, has recently joined Buffalo Marine as CEO.

People in Houston, particularly those in the marine/port industry, should be supporting my friend Mike Sullivan who is candidate for Houston City Council, District "E". Mike is no stranger to the port industry and it would be well to have someone on City Council who understands and appreciates the industries of the port.
